Parenting Styles and Development

There are different types of parenting styles that are used to help children develop for the future. There is tiger moms, jellyfish dad, and helicopter parents as the different types of parenting.A tiger mom is very strict with her children because she is willing to push them to success and want them to be discipline for the adulthood.A jellyfish dad is more relaxed and gives his children more freedom to do what they want.A helicopter parent pays attention to their children problems and experiences.

Having a mixture of parent styles would be more  beneficial because kids will have freedom but also responsibilities to help children know about the choices they make and the consequences.Kids these days behave the way they do because their parents don’t take action to discipline them.Children are influenced by the actions they observe whether its television, school, friends, strangers or parents.Being a strict parent can cause the children to be successful or they can defy their parents by wanting to have their own freedom. A parent that is relaxed and laid back without concerning the life of their kids can lead to more freedom and can cause problems by being delinquents. Depending on the type of parenting styles is how children will develop.

First impression: Does music relieve stress when doing work?

Research Question: Does listening to music relief a person from stress when doing work?

Hypothesis: Music motivates the person to do more work when stressed out, and makes them feel relaxed.

1.Ask people to complete a survey around the Austin College campus (faculty or students) if music helps them with work.

2. Survey asks questions about stress,if time flies by real quick, boredom, and how much work is completed when listening to music or no music and relaxed or stressed out.

3.Compare how many people listen or not listen music while working. There will be options with low, medium or high to determine how much work, relaxation and boredom are affected by listening to music.

4. Compare how time, boredom, and how much work is completed between music listeners and non music listeners by the answer choices provided by the people who take the survey.

5. Then distinguish how many people are more relaxed or stressed out with music.

Juan’s First Physcology blog post

My name is Juan and I attend Austin College.I am the first child out of my family to go to college in pursuit of becoming successful and get a better education to help me develop skills that will help me in the future. I chose to take General Psychology for my second semester of college because I wanted to learn something new that could help me in the future.I have never taken a psychology class in my previous years of high school. When I hear the word psychology I think about the study of the human mind which affects the way a person’s attitude or behavior changes. The three topics that look interesting to me are the Sleep, Drugs, Alcohol and the Brain, and Classifying Mental illness. These three topics are interesting to me because I want to learn their effects on a person and how to prevent them from becoming worse. The three topics that don’t look too interesting for me are the scientific method, research method, and experimental design. These three topics sound boring to me but it could surprise me making it interesting since this is my first time taking a psychology class.By the end of this class, I want to know what psychology skills I can develop and how to put them to use.
